Update

Well was hoping to get stuck into him over the christmas break when I had two weeks off, but that didn't happen cause he got a very mild case of staggers, but is now over that and in full work again. Got Kylee from Hot spots imaging to come and look at him whilst she was down this way and he has no sore spots which I am stoked about.

Thought I had better update my blog. Well buster is getting there, we had a lesson with Penny Castle about a month ago which I nearly died afterwards but it was great and has got us back on the right path, we are now getting nice work in walk and trott and not to bad on the left rein in canter the right rein is another story as Buster likes to pop his should on the right rein and it's just a matter of working through it as if you try to correct it, it makes it worse and he goes like a crab and runs side ways or stops and threatens to rear which he doesn't actually do but gets himself all worked up about it.
He has just had two weeks off, hoping to get back into working him tomorrow if things go as planned.

Well Buster got measured on Sunday. He is 164cm so is in the bigger Hack category for showing which I was hoping he would be. Also had Nikki out to see him yesterday afternoon to give him a check up before I started trying to get him schooled and he wasn't to bad which is great and I can now start hacking him, have to use my jumping saddle for now till I can get my dressage one looked at and some shims put in and get a gel pad to help it fit him better till he develops some muscle.
Now just need better weather.

Update on Buster, planing on taking him to measuring day next Sunday with Jazz to see what height is and I need a height cert if I ever get round to doing some proper shows with him.
My goals for him this season is just to get him going nicely and balance and hopefully maybe get out to one or two shows depending on finances (stupid weddings). Taking him in the inhand on the 14th of Sept at Foxton except my friend will probably be leading him as I will be leading Jazz.

Buster is a bay gelding with a star and a snip. I got him in March 2007, the Tuesday before HOY. I've had him for over a year but haven't done much with him, that is all going to change this year, come spring I will start riding him again, it's a bit wet at the moment and need to get some new stirrup leathers for my saddle first. Once that is sorted we will start with road rides then once the paddocks have dried out we will start on schooling.
